Three teen-agers were charged with theft Saturday after police discovered cars had been broken into in the lot at the Cromwell Fountain apartments off Ordnance Road.

According to the police report, officers were called to Rapid Water Way at 1:57 a.m. after several witnesses complained of seeing teen-agers using flashlights to look into cars.

Officers found the 16- and 17-year-olds in the neighborhood. Police say the youths are accused of breaking into three cars in the Cromwell Fountain area, one in Linthicum and one in Ferndale.

Police found two stereo tape decks, one compact disc player, two stereo amplifiers and one set of stereo speakers.

The officers returned the property to the owners and released the teen-agers to their parents after charging them with theft and destruction of property.
