25 Years Ago (week of April 28-May 4, 1968):

* The Committee for Hilltop Housing met with the Board of County Commissioners to discuss the county-owned housing then under construction in Ellicott City. The committee consisted of Main Street and Fel's Lane residents who wished to be involved with the county's plans to move area residents out of county-owned slum housing and into new residences.

50 Years Ago (week of May 2-8, 1943):

* It was announced that a limited number of pressure cookers would be available for purchase by groups of five or more families. Purchase certificates would be issued by the county War Board. The pressure cookers would aid families with home canning, which was being stressed as a way to conserve metal for the war effort.
