Hornets take 1st of 2 from Suns, 7-0 From Staff Reports

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Kent Wallace pitched a three-hitter to lead the Greensboro Hornets past the Hagerstown Suns, 7-0, in the first game of a South Atlantic League doubleheader yesterday.

The Northern Division-leading Hornets (19-7) scored twice in the third, including Elston Hanson's bases-empty homer. Tom Wilson's two-run double sparked a three-run fourth, and Nick Delvecchio's two-run homer in the fifth finished the scoring.

Wallace (4-0) struck out five. Loser Jose Silva (3-2) went 3 2/3 innings, giving up five hits, five runs, and three walks. He struck out five.
