Saturday is the annual May Fair sponsored by the PTA of St. John's Christian Day School.

The fair opens at 9 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m.

Games, bowling, basketball, remote-controlled cars and putt putt golf are sure to bring a smile to children's faces.

Adults can browse through the plants and flowers, crafts and white elephant tables. Be sure to be present at 1 p.m. for the magic show.

The school is at 226 Washburn Ave.

Belle Grove Elementary School news: Fifth-graders will be participating in the "Living American Flag" ceremony at Fort McHenry from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. tomorrow.

* Grandparents Day is Thursday. Grandparents are invited to visit the school Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. as part of Grandparents Day. They can stay to share lunch, too.

The cost of lunch is $2.15 and includes diced turkey, stuffing, fruit, vegetable, roll and milk. Students in grades 1, 2 and 3 eat lunch at 11:20 a.m. and students in grades 4, 5 and 6 eat lunch at 12:10 p.m.

If you have a grandchild in the a.m. kindergarten, visitation starts at 10 a.m.; for p.m. students, visiting starts at 1 p.m.

If you are interested in purchasing your lunch, please contact the school office at 222-6589.

* Kindergarten students visit the Baltimore Zoo on Wednesday.

Brooklyn Park Elementary School news: Saturday is the annual Spring Bazaar from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Games, grab bags, balloons, food and face painting will be available all day. Tables selling baked goods, penny candy, plants, canned goods, jewelry and crafts will also be available.

* "Superfit" testing of muscles and stamina continues today and Wednesday for students in grades 3 through 6.

* A Science Fair Awards Assembly will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday in the media center. Students will receive their certificates of participation and trophies.

Brooklyn Park/Lindale Middle Junior High School news: Burger King Night will take place from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Nursery Road restaurant. All students can enter their names in a raffle to win a North County T-shirt. All proceeds will help benefit the PTA and in turn benefit the students.

* The first edition of the school T-shirt is on sale. The shirt logo, created by eighth-grader Scott Taylor, depicts a bee atop a horse. Shirts are $7.50 for sizes small to XLarge, and $9 for an XXLarge. All orders and money should be returned to school by tomorrow. Get the spirit and order a shirt.

The Brooklyn Park Youth Athletic Association will sponsor a Mother's Day Plant Sale from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Sugar Shack on 10th Avenue. Hanging baskets, annual packs, potted flowers and novelty planters will be sold. Any remaining plants will be sold beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

* All raffle tickets must be turned in to the Sugar Shack on Saturday. The drawing for the $300 first prize, $200 second prize and two $50 third prizes will take place later in the day.

* Wayne Combs, association president, would like to thank everyone who helped make the Opening Day parade and ceremonies a huge success.

The Anne Arundel County Police Community Relations Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Northern District Police Station on Hammonds Lane. Discussion will include the use of emergency phone numbers.

Capt. Gary Barr will give a report on the activities happening in the Northern District.
