2 Baltimore men shot to death in separate incidents

May 03, 1993

Two Baltimore men -- one in the Gwynns Falls section and the other near Johns Hopkins Hospital -- were killed in separate shootings early yesterday, police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m., police found the body of a man lying in an alley behind the 2200 block of Prentiss Place in East Baltimore. He had been shot in the right chest.

Investigators identified the victim as Daniel Anthony Blue, 29, of the 2200 block of E. Madison St.

Homicide Detective Donald Osmuss said about 3 a.m., Mr. Blue broke into the home of his former girlfriend, assaulted her and fled when she cried out. Detective Osmuss said several men chased the man down the street and into an alley.

During the chase, one of the pursuers fired a handgun at Mr. Blue, the detective said. In an alley behind the 2200 block of Prentiss Place, Mr. Blue was surrounded by his pursuers, one of whom shot him in the chest, killing him.

Shortly after 1 a.m., police found the body of Ronald Kelly, 29, in the hallway of his apartment building in the 4100 block of Mountwood Road. He had been shot "a few times," police said. Southwestern District police patrolling the area heard gunshots and found the victim's body. Police have no motive or suspects.
