Jill Simet, a Towson State University senior from Williamsville, N.Y., has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for the 1993-1994 academic year.

Frieda Hardin and Carolyn Gordonel-Carey, students at Baltimore City Community College, received the Prentice-Hall Institute for InterCultural Understanding Student Award.

James D. Tschechtelin, president of Baltimore City Community College, has been selected to join the Greater Baltimore Committee's Leadership Program.

Carolyn Anderson, a department chair at Baltimore City Community College, has been awarded a fellowship for doctoral studies at North Carolina State University by the Academy for Community College Leadership Advancement, Innovation and Modeling (ACCLAIM), a program funded by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation.

Jerry Welch received a Baltimore CASA Conference Award from the Central Atlantic States Association of Food and Drug Officials (CASA) for coordinating a training program for sanitarians and an education program on the importance of food inspection at the Baltimore City Health Department.

Four professors at Johns Hopkins University are among the 195 Americans elected as fellows of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. They are English professors Sharon Cameron and Alan Grossman and history of art professors Charles Dempsey and Elizabeth Cropper.

Three Western Maryland College seniors scored in the top 50 among nearly 400 colleges and universities participating in the national 53rd Annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. They are Jay Taylor, Min Tan and Fei Zhou.
