Mount Airy sets public hearing on annexation
The Mount Airy Town Council will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday to listen to public comments on a proposed annexation of about 126 acres, known as Doub's Farm Venture, west and south of Watersville Road.
The council's regular monthly meeting will follow at 8 p.m. In addition to regular reports, the council will hear from Sally Bloomfield, representing the office of Rep. Roscoe G. Bartlett, R-6th.
And it will consider ordinances on forestation and compost violations, as well as suggestions for public works agreements.
Both sessions will take place at the Town Hall, 2 Park Ave., Mount Airy.

Holocaust survivor to speak at high school
Nesse Godin, a survivor of the Holocaust, will speak to an assembly of U.S. history classes at South Carroll High School at 1 p.m. Thursday.
The native of Lithuania lives in Silver Spring and recently appeared on the Discovery Channel with Walter Cronkite on a program about the Holocaust.
