HCC scholarship set up for Atholton High seniors

The Hickory Ridge Village Center Merchant's Association has established a scholarship program for Atholton High School seniors planning to attend Howard Community College for two years in a degree-seeking program.

The scholarship will pay for a minimum of 12 credits per semester and will be renewed each semester based on academic performance. The maximum term of the scholarship is two years.

To be eligible, students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA through grade 11 and the first semester of grade 12 and complete a 500-word essay. Applications must be submitted to Atholton guidance counselors by May 20.

* Harper's Choice: 5400 block of Harper's Farm Road: Two men stole 25 Sure deodorant sticks valued at $70 and 30 Right Guard deodorant sticks valued at $100 from Peoples Drug Store about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

* Town Center: 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone stole a $30 Burgundy wallet with $2 in cash and a Gold Crestar card from a desk drawer at Woodward & Lothrop about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone shattered the rear passenger window on a 1992 Mitsubishi and pulled off a wiper blade between 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

* Wilde Lake: 10600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Police found a Chevrolet Camaro that was abandoned between 3 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday. The car's rear window was shattered, and its steering wheel was broken.
