Residents near bars complain about patrons

Residents who live close to the bars and restaurants of downtown Annapolis are complaining that some patrons urinate on the streets at night.

Homeowners on Green, Prince George's, Cornhill and East streets also say panhandlers are hanging around their homes and accosting passers-by to demand money.

David Lasher, a resident of Green Street, complained at a City Council meeting two weeks ago that he cannot sit on his front porch at night without seeing a drunken man urinating nearby.

He also told the council that he's been accosted repeatedly by panhandlers.

Annapolis Mayor Alfred A. Hopkins has promised to look into the problem.
