Manchester to hold Fish Derby June 26

Children age 15 and younger are invited to participate in Manchester's 1993 Fish Derby June 26 at the pond in Christmas Tree Park.

The date was incorrectly given in the town's April 1 newsletter.

Anglers may preregister in the town office until June 16 for 50 cents.

Registration on the day of the derby will be $1.

On derby day, children ages 9 to 15 may register from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and fish from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Children 8 and younger may register from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and fish from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

Prizes will be awarded in each age group for the first fish, last fish, heaviest fish, longest fish and most fish.

Councilwoman Charlotte Collett said awards are tentatively scheduled to be presented at the Town Council meeting on July 13.

The pond will be closed to all uses until derby day, to allow fish to spawn and grow unmolested.
