Maynard Ferguson, his band to perform concert Wednesday

Maynard Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau Band will be featured at Westminster High School's spring concert at 8 p.m. Wednesday t the school, 1225 Washington Road.

Sponsored by the Westminster High School Music Boosters, this event is the major fund-raising effort of the year to benefit instrumental music programs at the school.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at Stu's Music or Coffey's Music stores. Information: 833-5583.

Local holding company trading on NASDAQ

Mason-Dixon Bancshares Inc., a Westminster-based holding company, began trading in the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, the nation's major over-the-counter stock market, under the symbol MSDX on April 1.

Carroll County Bank and Trust Co. is Mason-Dixon's principal subsidiary.

"One of the foremost advantages of being listed with NASDAQ is its system of multiple competing dealers," said Mason-Dixon's president and chief executive officer, Thomas K. Ferguson.

At the end of 1992, the company's assets were $460.1 million.

POLICE

* Westminster: A resident of Pennsylvania Avenue told city police that a burglar stole articles valued at $500 after breaking a window of his house Thursday.

Someone removed the hinges of a door on a house on Liberty Street in an attempt to gain entry Thursday, the resident told city police.

FIRE

* Westminster: Westminster and Hampstead responded to a pole fire at 6:01 a.m. Friday. Units were out for 30 minutes.

Westminster was out for 15 minutes at 1:35 p.m. Friday for a brush fire on Poole Road.

Westminster responded to a wash detail on Gorsuch Road at 9:21 p.m. Friday.

Westminster and Reese were out for 15 minutes at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, responding to an automatic fire alarm that sounded on Washington Road.
