Join the Ferndale Garden Club on a May 8 bus trip to Winterthur near Wilmington, Del., for a tour of the the du Pont mansion and gardens. The bus leaves at 8 a.m. from the Linthicum-Ferndale Senior Center, 7205 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. The cost is $35 and includes a lunch of crab or chicken at the Longwood Inn.

* The garden club's regular monthly meeting is set for 8 p.m. tomorrow at the senior center. Debbie Croghan from the Petal Pusher in Linthicum will discuss houseplants.

The hostesses are Kathy Shatt and Annette Thomas. Lucille Killian will report on horticulture. Members will participate in an outdoor plant exchange.

St. John's Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will present a flea market and craft show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on the lot across from the church, 300 West Maple Road.

The show features a white elephant table, several crafts, a rummage sale, food, drinks and a bake table. The rain date is May 15.


Friendship Church of the Brethren, 217 Mansion Road, is sponsoring a flea market and bake sale, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8. Table rentals are available for $8. Lunch and a baked goods table will be available.

It's almost time to sign up for Anne Arundel Rebels' football an cheerleading programs. Registration is planned during business hours on May 8 at the Harundale Mall and every Thursday in May from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the North County High School cafeteria.

Registration for boys ages 7 to 15 and girls ages 5 to 15 is on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee is $40 for one child and $10 for each additional child. Parents or legal guardians should bring a copy of the child's birth certificate.

The St. Christopher's Episcopal Church Youth Group will sponsor a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. A bake table and refreshments will be included.

For its final concert of the 1992-93 season, PAAL, the Performing Arts Association of Linthicum, is proud to welcome back the internationally acclaimed Edinburgh Quartet, which will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church.

This esteemed string ensemble has performed in more than 40 countries and is frequently heard on the British Broadcasting Corp. A reception will follow the concert.

PAAL receives grants from the Anne Arundel County Commission on Culture and the Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council. Parking is free and well-lighted.

The North County High School Athletic Department is sponsoring a golf tournament on June 25 at the Bear Creek Golf Course in Westminster. Golfers will start the day with a 7 a.m. continental breakfast followed by an 8 a.m. tee-off.

The fee is $55 per person and includes the breakfast, a buffet, greens fees, a cart and snacks. Reservations are required by June 16.

Awards will be given for a hole-in-one, the longest drive, the closest-to-the-pin on hole 8 and the drive closest to being straight.

Proceeds will benefit the school's athletic programs.
