Convenience store thief gets away with cash

A robber fled a High's convenience store in Owen Brown with an undisclosed amount of money Tuesday night after ordering a clerk to give him all the money in the cash register, Howard County police said.

The clerk and another employee were unharmed, police said.

The robber walked into the store in the 6800 block of Cradlerock Way about 9 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The clerk reported that the man walked to the counter and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash register, the man demanded the money, raising his shirt to reveal what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband, police said.

The clerk handed the robber an undisclosed amount of money, police said. The robber then fled.

The robber is described as a black male between 18 and 21, about 5 feet 10 to 6 feet tall, 170 to 180 pounds, with short hair, police said. He was wearing a blue buttoned-down shirt with a Hawaiian-style design and blue shorts.
