April 21, 1993|By Staff report

A teenager sought in the April 15 drug-related slaying of a man in the 6000 block of Booker Road in Catonsville was arrested last night standing on a corner within yards of where the fatal shooting occurred, Baltimore County police said.

Gary Askia Baker, 15, of the 200 block of Melvin Ave. in Catonsville, was arrested on a warrant charging him as an adult with the first-degree murder and robbery of Gilbert M. Henkis, 32, of the 100 block of Egges Lane, Catonsville.

Police said young Baker is being held at the Cockeysville District lockup pending a bail review hearing today in District Court.

The victim, police said, was walking in the 6000 block of Booker Road around 10 p.m. on April 15 when he was shot at least twice in the torso and robbed of an unknown quantity of narcotics.

People walking nearby heard the shots and called police, who found the victim's body.

Police would not say what evidence led to the warrant being issued for the suspect's arrest.
