Man critically hurt in Severn shooting
A 19-year-old Washington, D.C., man was shot and critically dTC wounded yesterday morning near Meade Village in Severn.
Myron Antoine Harrilson of the 300 block of Ridge Road in the district was listed in critical condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
County police said Mr. Harrilson was walking on a path that connects Meade Village to Van Bokkelen Elementary School shortly after 2 a.m. when he was approached by four men, one of whom said, "What's up?"
Someone in the group then shot at Mr. Harrilson several times, hitting him once in the abdomen, police said.
The victim could not give authorities a description of the suspects or a motive for the attack.
Laurel man charged with molesting girl, 13
A 32-year-old Laurel man was charged yesterday with sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl in the mail room of his apartment complex.
Robert Leo Gore of the 3500 block of Laurel-Fort Meade Road was arrested yesterday about 11 a.m. after the girl identified him for authorities, county police said.
The girl told investigators that the man approached her in the mail room and forcibly kissed and fondled her.
She ran to a nearby apartment in the Horizon Square complex and called 911, police said.
Mr. Gore was charged with a fourth-degree sexual offense.
Man found beaten in Pioneer City
A 27-year-old man was beaten almost unconscious Thursday evening in Pioneer City, county police said.
Clarence Wagner of the 1700 block of Richfield Drive was treated and released from the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
Police said they found Mr. Wagner lying face down in the road at the corner of Arwell Court and Pioneer Drive with about 100 people standing around him.
Though the victim was bleeding from the face and head, he was "combative and unwilling to cooperate with the police or paramedics," a police report said.
A witness who would not give police a name told the officers that two men between age 16 and 18 beat Mr. Wagner for an unknown reason.
Door-to-door salesman arrested in burglary
A Chicago man who was selling cleaning products door-to-door in the Gambrills area Thursday was arrested after he allegedly broke into a home and was caught rifling through a desk drawer.
Police said the man had sold a bottle of cleaning solution called Supreme to a homeowner in the 2200 block of Four Seasons Drive about 3 p.m.
About 8 p.m., the man apparently returned to the home and walked in through an unlocked back door, unaware that two occupants were upstairs, police said.
The suspect was confronted in a downstairs office by one of the occupants who ran outside the house and called police. A short time later, officers said they detained the man at Waugh Chapel Road and Indian Summer.
An occupant of the home identified the suspect, police said. Sean Carey, 24, of Chicago, was charged with one count of burglary.
