SHOWS Through Sept. 26: Opening of Chesapeake Changes, a natural history exhibit that focuses on the geology, geography, wildlife and human settlement in the 64,000 square-mile watershed of the bay, Explorers Hall of the National Geographic Society, 17 and M streets NW, Washington, D.C.

Today: Last day of RiverFest '93 water festival and boat show at Martin's Lagoon on Middle River. Call (410) 335-7470.

Today: Fishing flea market sponsored by the Essex Middle River Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association, Commodore Hall, 1909 Old Eastern Ave., 9 a.m. Raffles, drawings, new and old gear. Proceeds to benefit Chesapeake Bay projects. Admission is 50 cents.

Thursday-April 25: Annapolis Spring Boat Show at the Annapolis Yacht Basin.

Friday-April 25: Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition, Ocean City Convention Center. Judging begins at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Award presentations begin at 4 p.m. Saturday. General show hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is $16 for three-day pass, $8 a day and $7 per day for seniors and students. Children under 12 admitted free.

Tuesday: Joint meeting of Dorchester, Talbot and Caroline county chapters of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association at the Shore Sportsman on Route 50 near Easton. Bill Goldsborough of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation will conduct a workshop on the "Careful Catch" catch and release system and barbless hooks. The public is welcome. May 15-16: Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association bluefish tournament in Maryland waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

May 21-22: Maryland B.A.S.S. Federation S.Q.T. event on Potomac River.
