Town center condos for sale next month

People wanting to live in Town Center will be able to buy condominiums next month, now that a builder can obtain permits to construct 105 units on Banneker Road.

The county Planning Board voted 3-0 Tuesday to approve a site development plan for the project, called Wyndham, to be built by Trafalgar House Residential of Maryland.

The addition of high-density residential development in Town Center is seen as a step toward making downtown Columbia more like the 24-hour urban center the city's planners envisioned.

The zoning designation for the 5.5-acre site was changed from commercial to apartments by the county Zoning Board in March 1992.

Wyndham's first condominiums are expected to be finished by September and start in the $90,000 price range.


* Harper's Choice: 10900 block of Clarksville Pike: Someone entered a 1992 Ford Ranger and stole a $200 amplifier, a $150 8-inch bazooka tube speaker and two $50 headlamp covers between 11:40 a.m. and 2 p.m. April 5.

* Hickory Ridge: 10300 block of Eclipse Way: Someone threw eggs at a 1991 Dodge, breaking the rear window, sometime before 7 a.m. April 8.

10300 block of Eclipse Way: Someone broke a window on a 1992 Dodge Aries about 10:45 p.m. April 9.

11500 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone shattered glass in a sliding glass door, possibly with a BB gun, between 11:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. April 9.

* Town Center: 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone stole Oneida stainless flatware valued at $4,160 between 5 p.m. April 10 and 4 p.m. April 12.
