SHOOTING/ARREST: Western District -- Officer Darren Blackwell saw one man firing at another in the 600 block of N. Arlington Ave. Tuesday night and arrested the shooter after a foot chase. A .22-caliber handgun that was stolen was recovered from a yard. Later, it was learned that the bullet missed its intended target but struck a woman who was an innocent bystander. She was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment and released. Charged with assault with a handgun, police said, was James Scott, 23, of the 3000 block of Arunah Ave., who also was sought by city and Baltimore County police in a series of armed robberies.

ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Southern District -- Four men were arrested and charged with the armed robbery of a resident of the 100 block of W. Hamburg St. near his home Tuesday night. Officer Brent Lindner was responding to shots fired when he saw a Jeep speeding away from the robbery scene. Following a short pursuit, he stopped the vehicle, arrested its occupants and recovered a handgun, and $100 that was taken from the victim, who was not hurt. Being held at the station pending a bail hearing, police said, were Charles Harris, 23, of the 1700 block of W. Lafayette Ave.; Patrick Lawrence, 22, of the 2800 block of Presstman St.; Vernon Furbush, 25, of the 4700 block of Park Heights Ave., and Harold Jones 25, of the 500 block of Conant Way.

SCHOOL BURGLARY: Southern District -- Someone entered the Baybrook Elementary School in the 4300 block of West Bay Ave. in Brooklyn between April 2 and 13 and opened storage cabinets.

ROBBERY: Southern District -- A gunman robbed the Charles Carryout in the 1000 block of S. Charles St. Tuesday night of an undisclosed sum.

BURGLARY: Southern District -- Someone entered a house in the 800 block of W. Lombard St. Tuesday afternoon through a rear door and stole a set of bowling balls, clothing and record albums, all valued at more than $600.

BURGLARY: Southern District -- Two VCRs valued at $600 were stolen from a house in the 2700 block of Marbourne Ave. Tuesday by someone who broke in.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered the U-Haul Company in the 3900 block of Falls Road Tuesday by breaking a door panel and stole a 20-inch TV and a VCR, all valued at $500.

THEFT: Northern District -- Someone entered the room of a patient at Sinai Hospital in the 2400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. Monday night or Tuesday morning and stole a ring valued at $500.

THEFT: Northern District -- A man entered the Crown market in the 2400 block of St. Paul St. Tuesday afternoon and stole $20 from the cash register. Police recovered $10 near the scene.

THEFT: Northern District -- Someone stole a wallet from the room of a Johns Hopkins University student Tuesday. The wallet contained $31 and the student's U.S. immigration green card.

MISSING WOMAN: Garrison District -- Police were seeking Jeannette Henry, 70, of the 3700 block of Brice Run Road, who failed to return to her apartment Tuesday afternoon after going to a store. The woman, who is senile and lives with another woman, has wandered away before and, police said, "likes to ride buses." Ms. Henry, a black woman, was last seen wearing a black coat, black hat and blue boots. Anyone seeing the woman or knowing her whereabouts should call the police station at 887-1570.

CUTTING/ARREST: White Marsh District -- Angel R. Ocasio Jr., 29, of New Jersey, is in critical condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after being cut with a box cutter Tuesday night by a man inside a house in the 5600 block of North Ave. While the victim was showing the assailant's estranged wife love letters her husband allegedly sent to the victim's wife, the assailant entered the house. During an altercation, the victim was cut from his left chest to the navel and from the shoulder to his waist. From the scene, Mr. Ocasio was flown by MedEvac helicopter to Shock Trauma. Arrested about 1 a.m. Wednesday at his home in the 300 block of Enslie Ave. and charged with attempted murder, police said, was Josi L. Marroquin Jr., 29.
