Applications for the 1993 New York City Marathon -- to be run Nov. 14 -- will be accepted after May 19.

Applicants should send a self-addressed, No. 10 envelope and a $5 non-refundable check or money order to: Marathon Entries, P.O. Box 1388 GPO, New York, N.Y. 10116. Checks should be made payable to the New York Road Runners Club.

All requests must be postmarked May 19 or later. Twenty-five thousand entrants will be chosen: 12,000 on a first-come, first-serve basis, 8,000 for international entrants and 5,000 in a lottery held in July.

Running for president

Runner's World magazine has launched a fund-raising drive for the White House running track.

Runner's World will donate $1,000. Individuals who would like to contribute should send a check or money order to: White House Track, c/o Runner's World Magazine, 33 E. Minor St., Emmaus, Pa. 18098.

Spring Fair 8K canceled

The Johns Hopkins University's 12th annual Spring Fair 8K, scheduled for Sunday, has been canceled, race director Dave Cooley announced last night.

First steps for women

"Walking Women: The First Steps," a 20-page booklet published by Moving Comfort, Inc., and designed to help women begin an exercise program, is available by sending a self-addressed, stamped (52 cents), 6-inch by 9-inch envelope to: Moving Comfort, Inc., c/o Walking Women, 7364 Steel Mill Drive, Springfield, Va. 22150.
