Camera club to feature guest speaker WEST COUNTY--Crofton * Odenton * Fort Meade * Gambrills

The Bowie-Crofton Camera Club will hold two more meetings this month. On Monday, Fil Hunter will discuss "Lighting and Special Effects in Camera."

Black and white photography is the topic of the April 26 meeting, with Jason Jem, a senior photographic engineer with Ilford Photo, as the guest speaker. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church, 16510 Mount Oak Road, Bowie.

The Federated Woman's Club of Crofton will hold its annual Arts and Crafts Fair on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Village Green, just off Crofton Parkway. See the work of more than 100 craftsmen and women. A May 1 rain date has been set.


Drop off your gently used clothing to the Discovery Shop, an TTC up-scale resale shop for the American Cancer Society, from April 12 to 17, and get $2 off your total purchase of $10 or more.

The shop is in Bowie Plaza, 6904 Laurel-Bowie Road. Shop hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Thursday until 8 p.m.


The Bowie-Crofton Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) is sponsoring its 13th anniversary meeting at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Bowie Library. NARFE legislative director Judy Park is the guest speaker. The public is invited. Coffee and cake will be served.


The Discipline Committee of the Anne Arundel County Council of PTAs is sponsoring three forums for students, parents, faculty and the community to voice their concerns and make suggestions about student behavior and school discipline.

The forums are Thursday in the Meade High School cafeteria; May 6 in the Severna Park High School cafeteria; May 13 in the Glen Burnie High School cafeteria. Meetings are planned from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.


The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will hold the following classes:

* A six-session aqua-aerobics class from 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. beginning today at the Piney Orchard Community Center in Odenton.

The fee is $18, plus YWCA annual membership dues of $25 per year for adults, $15 for teen-agers.

* Beginning swimming lessons for children will start today and Thursday at the Piney Orchard Community Center.

This six-lesson class will feature Red Cross instruction.

Classes for novice beginners (ages 3 and older) are from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; for other beginners at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

A morning session is planned at 10 a.m. beginning tomorrow for novice beginners and 10:30 a.m. for beginners.

The class is offered for $30, and a $10 YWCA membership also is required.
