Robbery reported at service station

A 25-year-old woman reported having her purse stolen while pumping gas Saturday at the Banneker Road Exxon in the 10600 block of Little Patuxent Parkway.

A man approached the woman about 10:30 p.m., asked for directions to Route 40, and then struggled with her for her handbag, which contained $500, police said.

The woman let go when the man reached into his coat as if to get a weapon. He ran behind the station with the purse, police said.

The robber is described as a black male in his late 20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds. He has brown hair and a mustache that appeared to be bleached. He was wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark ski jacket with a yellow collar.
