North Carroll's inability to contain two players led to a 10-goal loss yesterday in the consolation round of the North County tournament.

Senior Dan Wolf (five goals, one assist) and junior Anthony Mattera (four goals, three assists) powered Archbishop Spalding past North Carroll, 13-3.

The score was tied at 1 after the first quarter, but Spalding tallied five unanswered goals in the second to break open the game.

The Panthers (1-3) didn't score again until the fourth quarter.

Seniors Jeremy Krug and Justin Snell, and junior Sam Seashole each had one goal for North Carroll. Junior goalkeeper Jake Albright made nine saves, giving him 25 in two games.

Steve Shaffer (two goals), Brian Zemanick and Paul Menges scored for the Cavaliers (4-3).

In the championship game, North County (5-0) took advantage of numerous DeMatha mistakes to win, 8-2. The Knights have won the tournament all three years.

Sophomore Matt Collins, replacing injured Ian Stevenson, had three goals and two assists. Senior Greg Sabo also had a hat trick, and senior Andy Mocarski had three assists.

Sabo and Mocarski were named co-Most Valuable Players of the tournament.

Freshmen Andy Beal and Kevin Grace each scored once for the Stags (2-4), who were outshot 9-1 in the first quarter and fell behind, 5-0.
