Finksburg resident delivers 2 petitions

A Finksburg woman who is organizing residents to oppose County Commissioner Donald I. Dell's plan to extend Interstate 795 and build an incinerator in Carroll delivered two petitions to the commissioners yesterday.

Mary Lewis of Elderberry Lane said about 150 people signed the petitions at a citizens' meeting Wednesday night at Emory United Methodist Church.

The petition opposing the new road read, in part: "We wish to go on record as strongly opposing the construction of such a major highway that would take up thousands of acres and have other adverse environmental impacts."

The other petition said an incinerator would increase pollution in the area and would be expensive to build and operate.
