Man charged in robbery of woman in Odenton

County police have charged a 24-year-old Glen Burnie man in the holdup of a Fort Meade woman in a parking lot of the Odenton Shopping Center Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Armando Santiago, of the 7800 block of South Hampton Drive, Wednesday morning and charged him with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony. He allegedly was armed with a semiautomatic handgun.

Carra Jeanne Parks, 32, told police that a man robbed her of an undetermined amount of money about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, then drove off in a black Chevrolet Cavalier.

Police said they quickly found the car on Waugh Chapel Road in Gambrills, but the suspect had disappeared. Police learned his identity from the car's other occupants.

The man was arrested at his home, police said, adding that they found several pieces of evidence, including money believed to have been taken in the robbery and clothes that matched the description given to them by Ms. Parks.
