Churches list Holy Week services PASADENA

Area churches will conclude Holy Week services this weekend.

An ecumenical Good Friday service provided by the Pasadena Ecumenical Clergy Association is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. today at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road.

The service will be divided into 25-minute segments featuring prayers, readings, music and choirs. Worshipers are invited to stay for all or part of the service.

Local pastors presenting homilies include the Rev. Carole Silbaugh of Mount Carmel United Methodist, the Rev. Boyd Frank of Lake Shore Baptist, the Rev. J. Kevin Farmer of St. Jane Frances, the Rev. John Douglas of Emmanuel Lutheran, the Rev. Brian Rafferty of Our Lady of the Chesapeake, the Rev. Charles Harvey of Community United Methodist, the Rev. Barbara Bunker of Faith United Methodist and the Rev. Frederick Ramsay of St. Andrew's Episcopal.

* Community United Methodist Church, 8680 Fort Smallwood Road, is having Easter services at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with the band and youth and adult choirs performing.

* St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 7859 Tick Neck Road, has scheduled the Way of the Cross with Communion at 7 tonight.

The church will play host to members from Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Holy Saturday for a combined vigil service starting at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, services are planned for 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

* Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 8615 Fort Smallwood Road, will offer services tonight at 7:30.

A Holy Saturday service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's. Festival Holy Eucharist services on Easter are scheduled at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

* Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road, will conduct a sunrise service led by the youth group at 6 a.m. Sunday at 5130 Mountain Road, followed by a pancake breakfast at the church. The youth fellowship will conduct an Easter egg hunt for Sunday school students at 9 a.m. Morning services will take place at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. with the adult and youth choirs cantata.

* Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road, is having a Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m. today. Resurrection Day services with Holy Communion and choir anthems will be celebrated at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

* Lake Shore Baptist Church, 4613 Mountain Road, will hold a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the sanctuary. Easter celebration services will be at 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

* Services at Magothy United Methodist Church, 3703 Mountain Road, are set for 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Easter. The adult choir's presentation of the cantata, "Behold What Manner of Love," will be presented at the 8:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sunday, April 18.

* Chesapeake Christian Center Church of God, 7975 Tick Neck Road, will celebrate Easter services for adults and children at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

* Magothy-Chelsea Community Lutheran Church, Third and Beach streets, will have an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by a pancake breakfast. A festival Communion service on Sunday will be offered at 10:30 a.m.

* Our Lady of the Chesapeake Roman Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Road, will conduct a Good Friday liturgy at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. today. Tomorrow, traditionalists can have food blessed at noon. The solemn Easter Vigil service will begin at 8 p.m. tomorrow.

L Masses on Easter Sunday are at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

* Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Highway, will join other area churches for a combined Good Friday service from noon to 3 p.m. today at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Road. Services on Sunday include a dawn service at 6 a.m., breakfast at 7 a.m. and festival services at 11 a.m.
