Hospital seeks summer volunteers

Harbor Hospital Center needs high school and college students to serve as junior volunteers this summer and will accept an unlimited number of applications.

The Junior Volunteer Program gives students who are at least 15 years old or have completed ninth grade a chance to learn skills in the health field from the end of June through the beginning of August.

Students work as few as four hours to several days a week assisting nurses, helping to feed or transport patients or working in the physical therapy unit or in one of the hospital's business offices.

Students also can earn community service credits toward graduation while helping the hospital and community.

Last summer, about 40 students volunteered.

Anyone interested in volunteering should call Ann Heil, the hospital's volunteer coordinator, at 347-3478 for an application.

The hospital is just across the county line at 3001 South Hanover St.
