School board candidates will face the public tonight

April 07, 1993

School board candidates will be questioned tonight at the first of three public forums sponsored by the Anne Arundel County School Board Nominating Convention Committee.

Each year, the committee conducts forums at which representatives of community organizations question candidates running for vacancies on the school board. Representatives of the organizations must register but may do so the night of the public hearing.

Tonight's public hearing is scheduled to begin at 7 o'clock at Annapolis Senior High School.

This year, Vincent O. Leggett, school board president, is seeking to retain his at-large seat after finishing his first five-year term.

He faces four challengers: Carlesa Finney, deputy chief executive officer for the Family and Community Services Division of the Anne Arundel County Community Action Agency; Elizabeth Greene, a mother of two and publisher of Harman Woods News, a 2,000-circulation community newsletter; Francis A. "Paco" DeBartolomeo, a National Public Radio satellite technician and father of six; and Michael Slotterback, an Arnold resident who is an intelligence analyst with Delex Systems Inc. and the father of a 7-month-old girl.
