Spaced Out? Try A Narrow Fridge

April 04, 1993

Narrow refrigerators and home wiring that connects telephones, audio, electrical and video cable lines were among the products on display Thursday for area homebuilders and industry professionals.

The industry trade show in Timonium, sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Maryland, put the latest building techniques and products on display.

For example, as more people recycle, fewer people are using trash compactors. So United Products Distributors in Baltimore is selling a line of refrigerators and freezers -- 15 inches wide -- designed to fit in the space of an under-the-counter trash compactor.

In addition to refrigerators, freezers, freezers with ice makers and combination refrigerator/freezers, U-Line of Milwaukee makes a wine unit with places for red, white and sparkling wines to be stored at three different temperatures.

Tristate Lighting in Columbia is marketing the ELAN Advanced Home Network, a home communications network that allows homeowners to connect their television, videocassette recorder, telephone and stereo equipment.

Other products included a termite- and rot-proof wood from Western Mill and Lumber Co. and the latest in modular homes.
