2 Anne Arundel men held in armed robbery of Jessup motel

Two Anne Arundel County men were being held in lieu of $250,000 bond each at the Howard County Detention Center after being charged in the robbery of a Jessup motel and two of its patrons Wednesday morning, Howard County police said.

Angel Alberto Maymi, 19, of the 400 block of Pamela Road and Raymond Rivera, 24, of the 700 block of Queenstown Road were both charged with armed robbery, handgun violations and theft, police said.

They were taken into custody about 1 p.m. Wednesday at an intersection in Severn, Howard County police said. Anne Arundel County police spotted and stopped their black Chevrolet, which had license plates matching those of the getaway car, police said.

Howard County police said two men, one armed with a shotgun and the other with a handgun, walked into the Relax Inn in the 8000 block of Washington Blvd. shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The man armed with the handgun forced his way into the manager's office and ordered the manager to give him money. He took about $300.

Meanwhile, the other robber ordered a man in the lobby to lay on the floor, court records said. He then took valuables worth $20 from him. When another man entered the motel, the robber ordered him into the lobby and took $200 in cash from him.

No one was injured during the robbery, police said.
