Unidentified man struck, killed by an Amtrak train near BWI

HANOVER -- An unidentified man was struck and killed last night by a Boston-bound Amtrak train near the Baltimore-Washington International Airport rail station, a railroad official said.

Michael Stewart, an Amtrak spokesman, said the man was walking or standing in the northbound tracks about a mile south of the rail station at 10:39 p.m. when he was hit by the Night Owl train headed to Boston.

The man was pronounced dead , and his body was taken to the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore, where an effort was being made to identify him.
