March 29, 1993|By Staff report

A 27-year-old Westminster man has been charged with fleeing and eluding police, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and other traffic offenses after allegedly leading Westminster police on a short chase early yesterday morning.

Police said Gregory Lee Lambert of the 700 block of Eagle's Court was driving a 1987 Ford Escort on West Main Street at 12:30 a.m. yesterday when Pfc. Michael Gromley attempted to stop him for a traffic violation.

As Private Gromley turned on his lights and siren, Mr. Lambert accelerated and began driving westbound on Winter's Street, police said.

Mr. Lambert then lost control of the Escort, struck a fence at Winter's and St. James streets, and finally stopped the car at the rear of 66 Pennsylvania Ave., police said.

He attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested after a short chase, police said.

Lt. Randy Barnes of the Westminster police said the Escort is owned by Josephine and Juliet Dellangelo of Sykesville.

Mr. Lambert was released on $2,000 bail yesterday, officials at the Carroll County Detention Center said.
