Riter's 3 goals lift No. 4 Syracuse by Towson, 15-8

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Jamie Riter scored three goals and ha five assists as No. 4 Syracuse handed No. 8 Towson State (2-1) a 15-8 defeat yesterday.

The Orangemen (2-2) jumped to a 3-0 lead on goals by Roy Colsey, Jamie Archer and Riter. Towson State closed to within 5-3, before Syracuse scored the next two to lead 7-3 at the end of the quarter.

Archer scored twice during a 5-0 Syracuse run, increasing the lead to 10-3 in the second quarter. The Tigers got a goal from Joe Genovese to closed to 10-4, but that would be as close as Towson State would get. Chris Surran's 26 saves for Syracuse kept the Tigers at bay.

Genovese, Steve Carcaterra and Colin McDermott each scored two goals for the Tigers.
