ASSAULT ON OFFICER/ARREST: Southwestern District -- Reynard Johnson, 21, of the 4700 block of Amberly Road, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault by pointing a handgun at undercover narcotics Officer David Phipps. Officer Phipps and a second officer were watching two men in the 200 block of S. Tremont Road at 4:20 p.m. when the men broke and ran. During a foot chase, the man Officer Phipps was pursuing turned and pointed a loaded .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun the officer. Officer Phipps fired one shot that missed the man, who threw his gun in a back yard before being arrested. The gun was recovered. Mr. Johnson was being held at the station pending a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Property valued at $200 was stolen from a house in the 4100 block of Walrad St. Wednesday by someone who entered through a rear basement door.

ESCAPEE: Central District -- A woman arrested for a drug violation in the 2000 block of Ramsay St. Wednesday afternoon escaped several hours later from Mercy Medical Center, where she had been taken for treatment of diabetes. Following her arrest, Verna J. Wiley, 36, of the 100 block of Westowne Place, Baltimore County, told police at the women's detention center she was diabetic and needed insulin. While a policeman stood outside a hospital examining room, the woman, who was handcuffed in the front, left through a door that led down a hallway and outside. It was not known if the woman actually has diabetes. She was still being sought today.

ROBBERY/ARREST: Central District -- A resident of the 140 block of Dartmouth Ave. in Baltimore County was in the 700 block of Linden Ave. Wednesday night when a man she knows pointed a weapon at her and robbed her of less than $2. Later, the man was arrested.

THEFT: Central District -- A Jeep owned by a Virginia resident was parked in the 500 block of St. Paul St. Wednesday when someone broke a window and stole property valued at $500.

THEFT: Central District -- A telephone and a computerized music system, all valued at more than $2,600, were stolen from a car parked in the 2100 block of Maryland Ave. Wednesday.

SHOOTING: Southern District -- Two men were shot Thursday night in the 900 block of Veronica Ave. in Cherry Hill. One of the victims, a resident of the 900 block of Veronica Ave., was shot in the left side and hip and was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment. The other man, a resident of the 2500 block of Round Road, was shot in the right hand and was taken to Harbor Hospital Center for treatment.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5100 block of Plymouth Road was walking near her home Wednesday afternoon when the occupant of a gold-colored car left the vehicle and stole her purse before driving off.

BREAK-IN: Northeastern District -- Tools valued at more than $100 were stolen from a garage in the 3800 block of Biddison Ave. Wednesday by someone who entered through the door.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered a house in the 2300 block of N. Charles St. Tuesday through a door and stole office equipment valued at more than $5,200.

BREAK-IN: Northern District -- A ledger book containing several blank checks was stolen from Point 3 Inc. in the 1700 block of Union Ave. by someone who entered the building through a second-story window.

STOLEN CAR: Northern District -- A 1986 Hyundai with New Jersey tags 193 PSE was stolen Tuesday from the 800 block of Wellington Ave.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Computer equipment valued at $2,000 was stolen from a house in the 2800 block of St. Paul St. Tuesday by someone who entered through the front door.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered a house in the 3200 block of Barclay St. Tuesday through a door and stole stereo equipment valued at more than $1,000.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 600 block of Harwood Ave. was in the 5500 block of Ivanhoe Ave. Tuesday when he was attacked by two men who knocked him to the ground and robbed him of cash and property, all valued at nearly $600.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- A VCR was stolen from a hous in the 700 block of Highwood Road Tuesday by someone who entered through a window.
