Hiers scores 21 in Severn's win

D'Andre Hiers scored 21 points to help Severn trip Meade Village, 40-27, in a 14-17 David Robinson basketball league matchup Sunday.

Jeff Green and Jeremy Martin each added five points for Severn (4-4). Chris Saulter and Ashon Nelson scored five and two, respectively.

Tyrone Lane led Meade with seven points, and Jamaar Thomas and Carlos Brown added six each. Vatrone Foote and Dewayne Dorsey scored three each.

* 11-12 boys -- The Linthicum-Ferndale Hornets split two games last week to take second place in the Linthicum-Ferndale Intramural Tournament at Brooklyn Park Middle School.

In the first game, the Hornets defeated Don's, 52-29. Chad Brown led the Hornets with 34 points, and Greg Care and Benn Carr scored six each. Dominic Butera scored four and Brian Broomell added two.

John Poe led Don's with 17 points and Brad Wisniewski added eight.

In the championship game, the Hornets lost to the Cougars, 24-21.

* The Linthicum-Ferndale Yellow Jackets defeated Police Youth Activity, 62-29, in a Ricky Pierce League game last weekend.

Joe Anarino led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points, followed by Erik Larson and David Dolch with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Chad Brown and Adam Sutton scored eight each.

* 12-14 boys -- The Severn Running Rebels improved to 8-0 with a 35-20 victory over Maryland City (6-2) in the Tom Gugliotta League on Saturday.

Michael Burns led Severn with 14 points, and Antoine Smith and Justin Patton scored seven each.

Jeremy Grizzle led Maryland City with seven points.

* 8-10 girls -- Severn's Renee Pineda and Lindsey Harris each scored four points in a 10-2 win over Lake Shore in the Glen Burnie League on Saturday.
