* The Maryland Court of Appeals affirmed today the legitimacy of a 6-story hotel, the Statler Hilton of Annapolis, constructed on the Annapolis waterfront last year over the protests of the city's historic preservationists. -- The Sun, Feb. 7, 1968.

* Winds gusting to 55 mph fanned brush fires throughout the state. The most destructive fire was in Anne Arundel County where flames on the farm of Richard M. Jeffrey spread to a barn, house and five outbuildings off Dorsey Road. -- The Sun, Feb. 18, 1968.

* Some 3,000 Anne Arundel County teachers are threatening a salary strike. Representatives of the county's 91 schools want the pay scale to start at $6,400. The school board's "final offer" of base salaries starts at $6,300 with 6 percent yearly step raises. -- The Sun, Feb. 23, 1968.
