Bank plans to build 'pocket park' GLEN BURNIE

March 19, 1993

The Bank of Glen Burnie plans to build a "pocket park" this spring at the corner of South Crain Highway and Second Avenue.

Plans call for a brick, zigzag wall set back from the intersection, low enough for people to sit on while waiting for the bus, said Henry Hein, the bank's board chairman.

A fountain and benches are planned. The park, which will measure several hundred square feet, will be landscaped with trees, shrubs and flowers.

Walkways from both streets will lead into the park.

The bank has leased a small piece of the site, near the outer edge of Second Avenue, from the county.

The park will cost the bank about $100,000.
