Tax credits talk set in Brooklyn Park

Brooklyn Park residents can learn about tax credits tonight during a meeting of the Olde Brooklyn Park Improvement Association.

The group meets at 7 p.m. at Brooklyn Park Elementary School, at 14th Avenue and Morgan Road.

Ken Tschantre, from the state Department of Assessment and Taxation, and Walter Tolliver, from the county property tax office, will answer questions about credits and how taxes are configured.

Members also will get a report from the community's security patrol, a group of 35 volunteers that patrols the old section of Brooklyn Park each week. The volunteers seek donations of citizens band radios.

Ferndale volunteers to hold carnival

The Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company will initiate the local carnival season with its annual carnival, scheduled from April 2 through April 11 at the Burwood Shopping Center, at Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard and Furnace Branch Road.

In addition to the sale of individual tickets, a "pay-one-price-and-ride-all-night" ticket deal will be offered.

The carnival will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weeknights and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. weekends.
