Cohen, Karwan promoted to top hospital positions
Steven S. Cohen has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer at Howard County General Hospital while Pamela G. Karwan has been elevated to assistant vice president for public relations and marketing.
The promotions were announced March 9 by Victor A. Broccolino, president of the 223-bed community hospital.
For the past two years Mr. Cohen served as the senior vice president for operations at HCC. He has nearly 25 years of hospital experience.
Mr. Cohen holds a master's degree in health care administration from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, and a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Maryland.
The hospital's director of public relations for the past two and a half years, Ms. Karwan also spent two years as the assistant director of public relations. Ms. Karwan holds a bachelor's degree in English from Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y.

is a private, not-for-profit, health care provider located in Columbia. The hospital opened in 1973 as a 59-bed, short-stay facility. It has grown into a comprehensive, acute-care medical center.
