Fire department will present its 'Gift of Life' and other 0) awards
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has scheduled its awards program at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the Banneker Room of the George Howard Building.
The evening will highlight the contributions of Howard County volunteer and career personnel during 1992.
Eight "Gift of Life" awards will be presented to 50 fire and rescue workers. Five of the patients are scheduled to be present, including a child. Four "Stork Awards" will be presented with four infants making an appearance. For most of the patients present, this will be the first time they have met their rescuers.
* Elkridge: 6800 block of Washington Blvd.: A woman's purse was stolen from the back room of Wood Market between 11 a.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. Wednesday. The purse contained a retail sales book, a driver's license, a credit card and $6.
6500 block of Route 1: A construction trailer door lock was cut between 12:01 a.m. and 3:29 a.m. Friday. A fax machine was stolen.
* Ellicott City: 2300 block of Ridge Tree Court: A man claiming to be the county tax assessor entered someone's home at 10:30 a.m. March 5, and said he had to check the basement to see if it was refinished. The man left when he was asked to leave. The man is described as a white male in his 20s, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with blue eyes. He was seen driving a small two-door gray vehicle.
8400 block of Baltimore National Pike: A 1985 BMW was recovered about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
2700 block of Club Road: A 1985 Toyota Supra was recovered about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
8500 block of Frederick Road: A Maryland license plate (VDB-236) was stolen from a 1988 Ford Explorer between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. last Sunday.
8500 block of Baltimore National Pike: A $450 Panasonic typewriter was stolen from Eastern Financial Services Inc. between 8:30 p.m. March 2 and 11 a.m. March 4.
Main Street and Maryland Avenue: Four hubcaps valued at $400 were stolen from a 1989 Mercury Tracer between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
8500 block of Baltimore National Pike: Someone stole a $1,400 T-Top from a 1988 Chevrolet Corvette between 6 p.m. March 6 and 9 a.m. March 8 at Normandy Ford.
10100 block of Baltimore National Pike: A 6-foot, $800 light bar with gold lights was stolen from a tow truck between 7:30 p.m. March 6 and 9:45 a.m. Monday.
