COLLEGE PARK -- With the threat of a severe snowstorm looming, a decision on whether the boys and girls state basketball championships game will be played today will be made by 9 this morning, said Ned Sparks, executive secretary of the state athletic association.

If the games are postponed, they will be played on Tuesday afternoon. The boys games will be at Cole Field House, with Class 1A at 3 p.m., Class 3A at 5 p.m., Class 2A at 7 p.m., and Class 4A at 9 p.m.

The girls games will be at UMBC. The Class 2A game is at 3 p.m., followed by the Class 4A at 5 p.m., Class 1A at 7 p.m., and Class 3A at 9 p.m.

"We just think that the kids should be back in school [Monday] and practicing to make for competitiveness all the way around," said Sparks. "Also, it will give our workers a chance to get their substitutes for school and an overall comfortable situation for all parties."
