10 arrrested in police sweep at drug markets

Annapolis and Anne Arundel County police swept through known drug markets in city housing projects Wednesday night, arresting nine adults and a juvenile on drug distribution charges and seizing crack cocaine.

Police seized 2.08 grams of crack, valued between $225 and $280, in nine locations.

Those arrested included a 17-year-old, who was not identified, and Kacy Domico Queen, 19, of Bowie Avenue; Jeffrey D. McGhee, 27, of Carver Street; Bridgette E. Johnson, 24, of Allen Drive; Margaret Louise Jones, 35, of Maple Drive, and James E. Tongue, 28, of Clay Street.

Also arrested were: William A. Howard, 43, and John T. Forrester, 24, both of Edgewood Road; and Stacey R. Mason, 25, of Center Street. Capathia A. Furguson, 31, of Arnold, was the only non-Annapolis resident arrested.

Neighbors have complained frequently about ongoing drug problems in the areas in Newtowne 20, College Creek Terrace, Robinwood, O'Bery Court, Bay Ridge Gardens, Bywater Mutual Homes and Bowman Courts, College Creek Terrace, Bowman Court and Carver Street, police said yesterday.

Armed man robs Annapolis motel

A masked man armed with a knife robbed an Annapolis motel Wednesday night, county police reported.

Officers said the man walked into the Thrift Inn on Riva Road at 7 p.m., took out a knife and demanded money. The clerk turned the cash over and the robber ran out the door.
