New GOP club seeks candidate to run for council WEST COUNTY -- Crofton * Odenton * Fort Meade * Gambrills

March 11, 1993

A new Republican club is forming in West County to search for a replacement for County Councilman David G. Boschert, who is barred from running in 1994 because of newly imposed term limits.

Alfred Shehab, a retired Army colonel who is active in Odenton, said the group wants to find "a good, solid citizen to run for County Council. The election is coming up in a year and a half, and we've got to find someone to run for office."

Mr. Shehab said he wants to end the Democratic entrenchment on the council.

Mr. Boschert, who represents the West County area and is the council chairman, is a Democrat.

The first meeting of the West County Republican Club is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 30 at the Fort Meade Officer's Club. Mr. Shehab said he expects about 50 people to attend.

The Beef and Burgundy dinner costs $15.
