Name: Karl Humberson, 16, of Millersville.

School: Old Mill High School.

Accomplishments/Interests: Karl, a junior and member of the varsity cross country team and the indoor and outdoor track teams, maintains an A average.

He received the "Minds In Motion Award" for the 1991-92 indoor track season and one for the 1992 outdoor track season. The award is given to student-athletes who maintain a 3.25 grade point average while participating in a sport.

In addition, he has been the recipient of the Scholar Athlete Achievement Award.

Karl was among some 350 high school students from across the nation who attended a five-day National Youth Leadership Forum on Security and Defense in Washington.

During the event, Karl met with officials from the Pentagon, the National War College, the State Department, the CIA and other agencies to learn about national defense and global security systems.

Karl was chosen to attend the forum as a result of his academic achievements as well as having shown an interest in a career in military affairs.

After graduation, Karl plans to attend the Naval Academy.

Comments: Karl says: "I work hard for what I have. I give over 100 percent in everything I participate in. Right now school studies and grades are my major concern because of my desire to attend the Naval Academy."
