Cavaliers top Midshipmen, 9-7, after Navy rallies for 7-7 tie

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA — CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Senior attackman Kevin Pehlke (Calvert Hall) assisted on two goals in the last 2:47 to break a 7-7 tie and lead Virginia (2-0) to a 9-7 win over Navy (1-1) yesterday at Scott Stadium.

Virginia built a 7-4 lead 46 seconds left in the third quarter, but the Midshipmen scored three goals on their first five shots of the final

quarter to tie the score with 6:07 left.

With 2:47 left, Pehlke found attackman Rob Falk alone in front of the goal for the winning score.

Rob Bailey led Navy with three goals, and Navy goalie Kevin Farrington had 23 saves.

Navy 1 3 0 3 -- 7

Virginia 4 2 1 2 -- 9
