Honor student seeks state beauty title

A North County High School honor student will compete Sunday in the Miss Maryland Teen USA pageant in Linthicum.

Angelisa Proserpi, 17, North County's homecoming queen and a volunteer swimming instructor for underprivileged children, will compete among 29 contestants at 3 p.m. at the BWI Marriott.

Contestants will compete in swimsuit, evening gown and

interview categories. The winner will go to the Miss Teen USA pageant in August in Biloxi, Miss.

The judges also will choose first and second runners-up.

The winner of last year's state pageant, Vanessa Malinis, also had attended North County High School.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $13.


* Linthicum: Burglars stole appliances and other property valued at $800 from a home in the 400 block of Hillview Drive Wednesday between 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

* Brooklyn Park: Someone broke into a home in the 5300 block of Brookwood Road sometime between Feb. 23 and Wednesday and took $1,100 in appliances.
