Man fatally shot, girlfriend injured in East Baltimore

An East Baltimore man was fatally shot and his girlfriend critically injured Wednesday night while they were walking together in the 2500 block of Greenmount Ave., police said.

Curtis Bellamy, 29, of the 2500 block of Barclay St. died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center of head and chest wounds, police said. The woman, Bonetha Walker, 27, who police said lived with Mr. Bellamy, sustained multiple wounds to the chest and was in critical but stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dmitri Tyson, 22, of the 2700 block of E. Monument St., was arrested at his home late Wednesday and charged with murder and attempted murder of the couple. Mr. Tyson was being held at Northern District police station without bail.

Police said Mr. Tyson, the woman's ex-boyfriend and father of her three children, walked up shortly after 6 p.m. and fired at least eight rounds at the couple with a revolver.
