Douglass is disqualified

March 04, 1993|By Jeff Seidel

Douglass High was disqualified from the state Class 3A, Region III playoffs yesterday due to use of an ineligible player in the Ducks' 59-57 victory over Centennial on Monday.

Centennial played in the regional semifinal last night at Walbrook.

According to sources, a Douglass player was terminated from Harbor City Learning Center on Monday. Since he no longer was

enrolled in the school, that made the player ineligible.

Douglass principal Shirley T. Hill would not comment on the exact reason, except to say the Ducks did use an ineligible player.

Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association executive secretary Ned Sparks said Hill called him late yesterday morning and told him Douglass had used an ineligible player.
