Zoning hearing delayed for Solley Road junkyard

A zoning hearing on a proposed automotive dismantling and parts recycling plant on Solley Road near the North Shore Road intersection has been postponed.

Joseph J. Duff, president of Mount Airy-based American Auto and Truck Parts, is seeking a zoning change on 3.85 acres from a light to heavy industrial use and for a special zoning exception. The property is on the west side of Solley Road, adjacent to the BFI landfill.

The hearing had been set for this morning, but was postponed by the Office of Administrative Hearings. No new date has been announced.
