Archbishop Spalding senior Kelly Mabe recently signed a national letter of intent with Georgian Court College in Lakewood, N.J.

Mabe, a National Honor Society member, played four years on the Cavaliers' varsity volleyball and softball teams and three years on the varsity girls basketball team.

She will concentrate on softball at Georgian Court. Last season, the Lions' softball team finished 14th among National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics schools.

Mabe was a second-team all-county selection last spring, playing third base for a team that won the Catholic League regular-season and tournament titles. She batted .455 and committed just one error in 19 games.

A 5-foot-6 point guard in basketball, she averaged 11.4 points and 3.4 assists this season.

"Mabe is a hard worker, very intense and leads by example," Spalding coach Jim Nemeth said.
