The Spirit has activated assistant coach Mike Stankovic and placed Doug Neely on the 15-day disabled list.

Stankovic, 37, who hasn't played since Dec. 21, 1991, when he suffered a severe knee injury and underwent major surgery, will be in uniform for Friday's road game against the Harrisburg Heat. Stankovic, who played nine years for the Blast, has been practicing with the Spirit all season, except for a few weeks after the staples were removed from his knee.

Neely has been hampered by a sprained ankle. He missed Sunday's game against the Chicago Power and will miss at least four more games.

Stankovic said: "Look, I feel good now. I've been practicing. Let's sign me. I'm ready."

Stankovic played for Dallas and Wichita as well as the Blast and was named to the Major Soccer League's all-decade team of the 1980s. He was a seven-time member of the MSL's all-star team.
